Office Depot Recalls Defective Chairs

Tuesday, January 12, 2016By ALG
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has just issued a press release about Office Depot’s recall of defective executive chairs. This particular chair has a defective seat plate. It’s the part that connects the seat to the base of the chair. Under certain circumstances, the plate can brake and pose a serious fall hazard to consumers. In certain situations, it’s possible to fall backwards and potentially suffer trauma to the head, neck or other parts of the body. The CPSC’s official recall information is listed below.

Defective Office Depot Chair Information

Product: Crawley II Executive Chair

Hazard: The seat plate weld can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Sold at: Office Depot and OfficeMax nationwide from October 2012 to September 2015 for about $140.

Units Involved: Approximately 300,000

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Stop using the chair immediately, and contact Office Depot for a free replacement seat plate. You will have to install the new seat plate on your chair.

Defective Products Putting Consumers at Risk

When large national and multi-national corporations put consumers at risk of injury or death, something has to be done. Conducting a recall is expensive and bad for business, and all too often, we see companies and manufacturers try to avoid or push off the inevitable. If a manufacturer is aware of a known problem with their products, they have a duty to inform consumers and remedy the situation. Unfortunately, the process can take months or years. During that time, more consumers are put at risk for injuries or death.

Product Liability in San Jose

The Crawley II Executive Chair is just one of many products that has been recalled over the past 12 months. Since it can take a really long time for products to get recalled, if you suspect a defective or faulty product was responsible for your injury, you need to speak with the manufacturer, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and a good product liability lawyer immediately. If you or a loved one has been injured by an Office Depot executive chair or some other faulty product, contact the experienced product liability lawyers at Alexander Law Group, LLP at 888.777.1776 for an immediate free consultation.

While the results that we have obtained in other cases and our clients' testimonials do not guarantee, promise or predict the outcome of your case, we do promise to do our very best for you in your case.
