Q. Should I talk to an insurance company after an accident?
A. No. Do not speak to any insurer. Insurance companies do not want to pay. They will ask to record your statement of the accident. Do not agree to this. Do not talk to them period. Your insurance company and the other insurance company want your injuries downplayed. They will trick you into saying you weren’t injured. Q. What should I do after an accident?
A. The most important step after any accident is to seek medical attention. Call an ambulance immediately, if needed. Keep in mind that some injuries do not show up until weeks or months after the incident. Call the police to have an officer assist you, observe and document the scene, and file a report.
You need the name, license plate number, contact information and insurance information of the other party. Record contact information for any witnesses, as well. Take pictures of the accident scene to document what happened.
