The absorbers made by Ohlins come original equipment on Specialized bikes: Enduro, Stumpjumper, Fuse, and Levo mountain bicycles. Ohlins models RXF36 Air and RXF34 Air suspension forks are sold as aftermarket equipment. These shock absorbing forks, common in serious mountain bikes have an air cartridge that can abruptly spring out of the stanchion tube and throw a rider. At this time, approximately 5,400 units are being recalled.
Defective Bicycle Fork
The bicycle fork is the part on the bike that holds the front wheel. For mountain bikers, the integrity of the fork is critical for safety.
These defective forks have “ÖHLINS” printed in gold on each of the fork lowers. They also have “RXF36” or “RXF34” printed across the arch. RFX36 Coil Forks (no air valve on the right-side top cap and “TTX” and “Coil” printed on the back of the left fork lowers) are not included in this particular recall.

There have been four reports of the air cartridge abruptly springing out of the fork stanchion tube in the U.S. These bikes were originally sold at authorized Specialized Retailers nationwide between January 2016 through September 2018. These forks were also sold as aftermarket accessories through a variety of retailers online and in person. They sold for between $1,000 and $1,250.
