A 2-year-old Rohnert Park girl was killed on Wednesday Evening and her mother was seriously injured when they were struck by a vehicle near Snyder Drive and Medial Center Lane according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
Two public safety officers who were conducting an unrelated traffic stop nearby witnessed the accident at around 5:40 pm and rushed to the victims’ aid.
The two officers immediately began administering first aid. After reporting the accident police and fire units were called to the scene, however they were unable to save the life of the 2-year-old girl.
The auto accident involved a 1997 Honda driven by Kaitlyn Dunaway, 18 of Rohnert Park.
The child’s mother remained in intensive care Wednesday evening, according to the department.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
