Three people were killed, two of them brothers in an auto accident early Saturday morning on Highway 101 that sent a Jeep tumbling down an embankment in San Jose, authorities said.
Two of the deceased identified as brothers are Mark Bava, 58, of Carmel and Chris Bava, 63, of Los Angeles. Two female passengers, one of whom was killed and one injured, have not been identified.
The accident happened after Mark Bava pulled his 1996 Jeep over on the southbound side of the highway near Blossom Hill Road at 12:45 a.m. when a 1994 Honda, traveling south at about 65 mph and driven by an unidentified 28-year-old woman from San Jose, smacked into the back of the Jeep, sending it rolling down an embankment and killing the Bava brothers and a 54-year-old female passenger, this according to investigating officers.
The sole survivor from the Jeep was a 55-year-old woman, she was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Details of this crash and its cause are still being investigated.
