DDVIP is a mobile app sponsored and developed by the State of California Office of Transportation Safety (OTS). It’s designed to treat designated drivers like VIPs by giving them exclusive discounts and freebies at a number of participating restaurants and bars throughout California.
The DDVIP app is available as a free download on both iOS and Android devices. The app allows users to search all participating bars and restaurants in California or “Map a Spot” with their location to find DDVIP partnering establishments in their area. The app also allows users to order a sober ride through Uber or Lyft from one screen.
Designated sober drivers can use the “Offer” tab in the app to redeem exclusive deals and share with friends on social media. The offers from participating restaurant and bars to designated sober drivers include free non-alcoholic drinks (known as “DDrinks”) as well as other types of perks. Apart from the mobile app, OTS also partners with RADD, the Entertainment Industry’s Voice for Road Safety, which offers the RADD Card, a prepaid card for cab rides.
