A defective camp axe is being recalled by Wal-Mart because the axe head can detach from the handle, which poses a major injury risk. At this time, approximately 246,000 units are being recalled. The Ozark Trail Camp Axe has a steel tubular shaft that measures about 14 inches long from the handle to the axe head. It weighs about 1.25 lbs., and it has a black, non-slip rubber grip with claw feature. Additionally, “Ozark Trail” and model number 60111140 are printed on the packaging.

At this time, there have been two reports of axe heads detaching from the handle. These incidents have resulted in injuries. If you have one of these camp axes, you should stop using it immediately. You can return your axe to Wal-Mart for a full refund. These defective axes were originally sold at Wal-Mart stores nationwide and online from January of 2017 through July of 2018 for approximately $8.
