On August 1, 2017, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a press release about the dangers involved with defective MixBin Electronics iPhone cases. According to the CPSC, consumers using these iPhone cases are at risk of skin irritation, burns and chemical burns. Hot glitter and liquid can leak out of these defective iPhone cases, which can cause severe skin irritation and burns to users. At this time, approximately 263,000 of these faulty iPhone cases have been sold. Details on The Defective iPhone Cases
The iPhone cases in question are plastic and filled with glitter floating in liquid. They were made for iPhone 6, 6s and 7. They have been sold from various retailers including Amazon, MixBin Nordstrom Rack, Henri Bendel, Tory Burch and Victoria’s Secret. Currently, there have been 24 reports worldwide of skin irritation and chemical burns associated with these cases. 19 of those incidents were reported in the U.S., and at least one consumer has suffered from permanent scarring. Another consumer suffered from chemical burns and swelling to her leg, face, neck, chest, upper body and hands. Listed below are the iPhone cases involved in this recall.
