The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a press release about Whirlpool recalling KitchenAid electric kettles due to a potential burn hazard. According to the CPSC, the handle on these 1.7-liter electric kettles can loosen and separate from the body of the kettle. This can cause hot boiling liquid contents to spill, which poses a serious risk of burn hazard and injury to the consumer. At this time, approximately 40,200 defective kettles sold in the U.S. are being recalled. If you have one of these KitchenAid kettles, you need to stop using it immediately and contact Whirlpool for a free replacement.
