Popular Lenox tea kettles are currently being recalled due to a risk of severe burn injuries to consumers. These 2.5-quart tea kettles by Lenox are being recalled by Continuum. Apparently, they can expel hot water during use, which poses a significant risk of burn hazard to users. Currently, about 56,000 of these tea kettles are being impacted by the Continuum recall. These whistling stainless steel tea kettles have a three-layered bottom and were sold in a variety of colors for about four years.
More Information About Defective Lenox Tea Kettles
The defective Lenox tea kettles have a stainless steel flat bottom that is approximately 7” in diameter. The name Lenox is written on the sides and bottom of the kettle, and they were sold in blue, red, silver and gold. Originally, they were marketed for between $30 and $50 at stores like Burlington, Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, Tuesday Morning and similar retailers. These defective Lenox tea kettles were sold from September of 2013 all the way through November of 2017.
Defective Tea Kettles Cause Severe Burn Injuries
So far, there have been at least 14 reports of these faulty kettles expelling hot water through the top. In four of those cases, there have been burn injuries reported, and some of those have been described as “severe.” If you have one of these defective tea kettles, you need to stop using it immediately.
