Two people were airlifted to area hospitals after a head-on collision in Contra Costa County this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at 5:24 a.m. Thursday on Sellers Avenue south of Sunset Road, according to the CHP.
The Contra Costa Fire District reports two people were taken by helicopter to the hospital. Another occupant of one of the vehicles may also have been injured.
While the injuries for at least two of the motorists were considered major, all are expected to survive, the CHP said.
The street was blocked for about an hour before authorities cleared the scene.
