You might want to sort through that stash of Halloween candy before the big night, and of course, check what the kids bring home. Manufacturer Colombina is recalling certain lots of their Mega Pops lollies because they may contain traces of metal. The pops came in 14-oz and 28-oz bags, with watermelon, cherry, orange, and grape flavors.
The bags are marked with UPC Code numbers 0 14272 10873 9 or 0 14272 10862 3, and are in lots marked as Lot #1240695, Lot #1209708, or Lot #1209796. The lot number appears in a white square on the lower left hand side of the reverse of each bag.
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services posted a warning for consumers after tests found tiny pieces of metal in the candy. Inspectors from the department collected samples of the candy following a consumer complaint; tests confirmed the presence of metal fibers and flakes in the candy.
Return the candy to the store where you bought it for a full refund or store credit. The company says consumers can return any of the product, regardless of lot number. Questions? Call the company at 1-888-317-3686.
