Three lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 are blocked by four disabled vehicles involved in multiple minor-injury collisions just south of Woodside Road in Redwood City, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
A Sig-alert was issued at 5:03 a.m. because some of the four vehicles involved in the collisions are blocking the three left lanes, CHP Officer Jonathan Short said.
The chain of events began when a black Honda crashed into the center divide, spun out and became disabled in the center of five lanes of traffic, Short said.
Three other vehicles subsequently were involved in collisions in the area, he said, and four tow trucks are currently en route to clear the disabled vehicles.
The two rightmost lanes remain open.
Motorists are advised to take an alternate route to avoid heavy delays.
