After at least 150 reports of broken chairs causing injuries, Office Depot is finally recalling 1.4 million office chairs. According to the Associated Press, at least one serious injury has been linked to these faulty chairs so far. The chair model being recalled is the 2003-2012 Office Depot Gibson Leather Task Chair. This black leather rolling chair is armless and has five wheels.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the chair’s seat plate weld can crack and break. The seat can actually come loose from the base while somebody is sitting in it. At least one person has suffered from a fractured back and hip. Other injuries attributed to these defective chairs include head injuries, bruises and scrapes.
