The wreckage of a small plane missing for several days was found north of Reno yesterday.
The small Cessna plane that had been missing since Saturday when it departed from Roseberg, Oregon with three people on board. The three people aboard the plane have been identified but investigators are withholding names pending notification of relatives.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Washoe County, Nev., sheriff’s office confirmed that the Cessna 172 was found Tuesday evening about 25 miles north of Reno.
The plane crashed at an elevation of roughly 6,500 feet in the Peterson Mountain range. Gregor says the plane left Roseburg, Ore., en route to Susanville, Calif., at about 3 p.m. Saturday. A relative reported it overdue when it failed to arrive in Susanville. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA will investigate the crash.
