The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office today identified Robert Martinez 44 of San Jose as the victim who was killed while crossing Monterey Highway on Wednesday.
San Jose police officer Jose Garcia said there weren’t many details to reveal today about the 7:40 p.m. Wednesday fatal collision. Originally, police said the victim was 47 years old.
According to Garcia, Martinez was struck as he was crossing Monterey Highway north of Capitol Expressway. It has not been released weather Martinez was crossing at a light or in a crosswalk.
He was hit by a 1995 Kia heading south and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garcia said the driver was not arrested, and police are still trying to determine whether alcohol or drugs may have been involved.
