A San Jose officer driving a patrol car, stuck and injured a 63-year-old pedestrian crossing the street Monday night.
At 7:22 p.m., the officer was driving west on Santa Clara Street between 13 and 14th streets when his patrol car hit an unidentified Fremont man, San Jose Police Officer Jose Garcia said. The victim was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment. The extent of his injuries are unknown.
The officer, whose name was not released, was not injured
The officer was on regular patrol when the accident happened. Why the officer struck the pedestrian is under investigation by the traffic unit, and Garcia did not know whether the victim was in a crosswalk.
Currently the accident is still under investigation.
