Although the Tesla Model 3 has been touted as the “safest car ever built,” the high-end automaker is currently facing yet another lawsuit related to potential safety issues. Tesla Inc. is being sued over a crash that happened last year where a Model 3’s airbags didn’t deploy. That crash happened on I-95 in Maryland, and the occupants sustained serious injuries due to the airbags not deploying. From computer malfunctions to autopilot issues, this is just the latest in Tesla problems hitting the news.
Tesla Lawsuit Involving Airbags Not Deploying
We’ve already seen several lawsuits associated with deaths and injuries due to the defective autopilot system in these vehicles, but now we’re seeing issues related to airbags. During the Maryland crash, the Model 3 was hit by another vehicle. It then hit a guardrail on I-95. During the crash, none of the Model 3’s airbags deployed.
Even wearing a seatbelt, one of the occupants sustained major head trauma and other injuries. Her son in the backseat of the car was also injured in the crash. The driver, a college professor, has been left with brain damage from her injuries.
Compensation For Medical Bills and Lost Wages Due to Tesla Crash
At this time, the family is seeking compensation to pay for medical bills, lost earning capacity and for pain and suffering associated with their injuries. The lawsuit is expected to bring potential safety issues regarding Tesla vehicles and their airbag systems to the surface.
Airbags aren’t the only potential safety issue being looked into either. Officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) are currently investigating premature failures of the large touchscreen and computer that powers it in Tesla’s Model S sedans.
